Don Joaquin began self-taught since he was in high school, then with the help of his neighbor he learned to give better shape to the animals.
Crescentia cujete is located within the Bignoniaceae family, it is a tree that measures up to 10 m high and 30 cm in diameter.
The fruit is called pepo or gourd, is spherical to ovoid-elliptical, and can measure 8-20 cm in diameter up to 30 cm long.
After collect these fruits, they empty them, dry them, to then paint them and hand carve them.
As is a natural product the size between each ornament varies.
